Visitors from the EU to require Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)
From the 2nd April 2025, EU nationals will require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling to the UK.
Applications can be made through the UK ETA app, with most people getting an automatic decision within minutes. If you do not have access to a smartphone, you can also apply online on gov.uk.
You will need to provide your biographic and biometric details, as well as answering questions on suitability and criminality. The ETA is then linked to your passport digitally.
Some cases will take up to 3 working days, so it is advisable to apply in good time.
An ETA currently costs £10 and is valid for multiple visits to the UK of up to 6 months over a 2-year period.
